Since december 2013, there are sometimes special drops during week ends. Most often it is a friday-sunday event.
First thing to do is to watch Kongregate or R2Games forums to be sure not to miss this event.
Now the question is, how to get maximum drops?
We assume there is no Wartune bug and the drops start from midnight at the announced D day.
Multiplayer dungeon
Very simple. At D-1 day do not use your multiplayer dungeon attempt. Wait for midnight (so beginning of D day) and use it. This way you get double multiplayer dungeon at D day. Devotion reset is at 5:00 so you won't miss devotion because of that.
Anyway a single multiplayer dungeon is not that great for special drops and a bit long, so you could consider not using this tip with multiplayer dungeon. You can also use a quicker dungeon than you usually do if you don't mind weaker standard rewards.
Catacombs
A bit more tricky. At D-2 day, use your catacombs attempt, using a crypt key if you estimate the drops are worthy enough for you. But stay at level 1.
At D-1 day do nothing except entering and exiting Catacombs if you want to get devotion before midnight (not that useful anyway).
At midnight (so beginning of D day), go through Catacombs, then use your D-1 day attempt. Go through catacombs again if you have time or do it latter. After 5:00 use your D day attempt normally.
Note: if you do full catacombs you will need 50 minutes to blitz them, it's up to you to be sure going to bed so late is that worthy...
Solo dungeon
First method: you use monthly Spirit Covenant or Lord of Time, or you have plenty of Time during night, or drops are very worthy for you and you still have a Spirit Covenant trial.
So, at the end of D-2 day, make sure you have 100 stamina left.
At D-1 day, do no solo campaign.
At midnight (so beginning of D day), blitz three solo campaigns, recover stamina (instantly or not), launch the last 10 blitzes, go offline and go to bed.
Second method: same thing, but you do three solo campaigns during D-1 day and recover stamina before midnight, so you get three less solo campaigns with special drops.
Third method: same as first method, be sure to have 100 stamina left at end of D-2 day.
At midnight (so beginning of D day), blitz eight solo campaigns, launch stamina recovering, stay online and go to bed.
You can use system commands to schedule an automatic shutdown of your computer. For instance with Windows, you can try this in a command prompt (or a batch file):
7200 is in seconds and means to wait two hours before shutting down computer. You can put a slightly bigger figure because sometimes Wartune's chronometers seem to be a bit late...
This method is recommended by Sciencefreak because he sometimes had offline blitz cancelled.
Prefer blitzing, because it's difficult to pick up special drops from the boss.
You can also use Stamina Potions during drop event (if the drops are worthy enough, of course), but no need to do that after midnight...
Total time spent after midnight
If you do daily whole catacombs,
First method (if you instantly recover stamina): 65 minutes + 1 multiplayer dungeon
First method (if you recover stamina the slow way): 185 minutes + 1 multiplayer dungeon
Second method: 50 minutes + 1 multiplayer dungeon
Third method: 90 minutes + 1 multiplayer dungeon
