Hey sweeties.
When I started this game 4 months ago and got this archer char I didn't have the slightest idea, what I was doing until I was a lvl41 char with impressive 14 k br.^^
Due to having not particularly much fun in battlegrounds and arena and to a very resolute hint by a certain French witch (thank you Jina ) I realized that I need to do a couple of things to put myself in the position to enjoy this game.
First I started gathering information. I read all available guides, I collected valuable general information from Furetto and even more valuable archer-specific information from Leova. I discussed lots of details with Zagor and Feothar and I started watching other archers in arena and bg.
And of course I started levelsitting and improving my br.
By now I often receive questions from lower lvl archers how they should proceed in their character build. So I thought it might contribute to guild knowledge, if I write a bit about my experiences as an archer. I don't want to create another archer guide, because their number is legion already. I want to write about my own personal experiences and opinions and leave them open for discussion. As I am only lvl 44 I of course wouldn't know much about higher lvl archer specifics. Therefore I'd like to encourage especially higher level archers to contribute their higher lvl knowledge and experience.
So let's start with a few links everyone should check out.
First there is of course Jina's Beginner's Guide.
Then there's the Archer info in Wartune Wiki.
And this one is a particulary comprehensive Archer Guide.
So now let me write something about my own experiences and opinions. Please be aware that this will be neither comprehensive nor will it necessarily apply to your individual situation. But read it, try it and then let's discuss.
Gear
On lvl 44 I am using a lvl 35 arena gear with all sockets opened. The alternative would be a lvl 40 crypt gear, possibly even in legendary state with 4 gems on each piece and enchanted up to 21 (my gear is only enchanted to 12). So the leg gear sounds really nice. But I've been playing arena with archers between lvl45 and lvl49, who were using this leg gear. I have to tell you, it did not convince me: Neither in br gain nor in effect. And of course, the arena gear is much cheaper.
Therefore my next gear will be a lvl45 arena gear.
Jewels and Rings
Because I had quite a bit of crypt tokens and probably will levelsit still a considerable time before going to lvl50 I spent 400 tokens on lvl40 jewels, They improved my PATK nicely. But I don't plan to make them legend right now, because the lvl50 jewel and ring set will cost 6400 tokens for legendary (1600 just to buy it).
Astrals
The generally recommended astral combination for an archer with 4 astral slots is PATK, sniper's edge (raises crit chance), PDEF and MDEF. There is nothing wrong with this combi and it creates a nice br boost. Still I am not using it (any more), because I am much more efficient with the following combo (thank you for recommending this, Zagor ):
Holy Force (red PATK astral)
Holy Snipers's Edge (red astral to raise crit chance)
Enhanced Determination (yellow astral to raise crit base damage)
Refined Goddess Blessing (yellow astral to reduce all damage)
With this combi you have also a significantly lower br, and it is always good to be stronger than you look.^^
As always with astrals it is necessary to have them in red or yellow and to upgrade them to a reasonable lvl (mine are on 6).
Gems
Based on Leova's advice I only use the following 4 types of gems:
PATK, HP, MDEF, PDEF.
I have a PATK gem in every piece of gear and set the other types as available.
CRIT gem sounds nice for an archer, but isn't necessary, if you have CRIT astrals.
Refinement
As soon as I am lvl 45 and can play Jewel Hunt for refinement locks, I will put some more effort in refining my gear (I've been working on piling up refinement crystals for quite a while). My experiences so far show, that it is really useful to refine archer gear to the following (following the advice in the archer guide mentioned above):
1. Power (strength)
2. Patk
3. Crit
4. Defense (armor)
5. Endurance
Skills
After clicking wildly on skills in the beginning I recently invested some balens to reset my skill tree (believe me, it was necessary^^).
Now my skills look as follows:
Arrow strike lvl4 (95 % + 95 physical damage + crit rate increase of 20 % + rage increase of 5
Multi-shot lvl4 (2 random attacks of 51 % + 100 physical damage, crit guaranteed + 25 % QTE damage boost)
Delphic Sniper lvl2 (300 % + 432 physical damage, 20 % crit rate increase + 25 % QTE damage boost)
Lunatic Fire lvl3 (104 % physical damage to all enemies, 10 % crit rate increase + 25 % QTE damage boost)
Bloodthirsty Strike lvl2 (120 % damage to a single front row target, 60 % of dmg converted to HP regen + 10 % HP regen increase by QTE)
Acumen lvl2 (extra 5 rage after each crit)
Focused Attack lvl3 (PATK boost of 15 %)
Eye of the Eagle lvl2 (20 % crit rate and HP increase)
I am quite satisfied with the result of this skill setting, but I am sure it still is discussionworthy.
Skill Combinations
Your result in battle can differ greatly depending on the skills you use and on the sequence of your skills. When fighting in a group you also have to consider what chars you are fighting with, their way of fighting and their strength.
In arena my usual skill combi is:
Arrow Strike,
Rune,
Lunatic Fire,
Multi-shot.
After that I use what is needed. If I see that after the first round one of the opponents is down, I skip Lunatic Fire and have an additional rune-boosted shot (e.g. Bloodthirsty Strike if one or two of the opponents are strong). If I see right from the start, that one or two of the opponents are very strong, I only use arrow strike and multi-shot in the beginning to build up a rune-boosted Delphic.
If you see your teammate shooting before you selecting a skill with area damage, you might decide that you don't need Lunatic Fire.
My advice is to set up a standard combi for yourself, to always watch closely what your teammates are doing and only use rune with your strong skills.
In battlegrounds I use
Arrow Strike,
Rune,
Lunatic Fire and
Bloodthirsty Strike (to restore my HP).
As in arena it is necessary to adapt to strength, char type and play of your opponent.
Now to World Boss: I'm afraid, that here I really suck. My best combi is Delphic, and after that always Arrow Strike trying to double hit. For some reason I always seem to lose at least one attack per round and this gets worse, when I try more sophisticated combis. Especially on this issue I'd love to hear some other archer experiences.
So this is it for now. As mentioned in the beginning this is not meant to be something like a guide, but rather a basis for further discussion and exchange of archer experiences. So I would really like to see you contributing.
